Created for Netflix by showrunner April Blair from Jodi Thomas's novel series, Ransom Canyon centers on stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), who is drawn to Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly), owner of the local dancehall, while a mysterious drifter stirs up old secrets between three ranching dynasties. Netflix ordered the series in December 2023, and Season 1 premiered April 17, 2025, reaching No. 3 on Netflix US in its opening week.
A one-episode cameo, not a recurring role
In Season 2, Thomas Rhett and Jordan Davis appear as themselves for a single episode, performing their real-life collaboration "Ain't a Bad Life" at a fictional in-show music festival. It is a cameo, not an ongoing acting role, but it is a real one, credited on both the show's own cast list and independent entertainment coverage.
Canceled after two seasons
Season 2 premiered July 23, 2026. In September 2026, Deadline reported that Netflix had opted not to proceed with a third season, ending the story of Staten and Quinn where Season 2 left it.
