Country music was the family business

Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. was born March 30, 1990, in Valdosta, Georgia, the son of country singer Rhett Akins. He has been recording since 2010 for Valory Music Co., a Big Machine imprint, and married his wife Lauren in 2012.

Seven albums, one signature ballad

His seven studio albums run from "It Goes Like This" (2013) through "About a Woman" (2024), with "Life Changes" (2017) and "Center Point Road" (2019) both earning Grammy nominations for Best Country Album. His biggest signature song, "Die a Happy Man," has become one of the most-played wedding songs in country music.

He has co-hosted the CMA Music Festival TV special since 2016 and, in Season 2 of Netflix's "Ransom Canyon," appears as himself alongside Jordan Davis to perform their collaboration "Ain't a Bad Life" at an in-show benefit concert.
