Tucker Wetmore grew up in Kalama, Washington, a long way from Music Row, and only picked music over football after an injury ended his college career.
A football injury that changed his direction
Tucker Payson Wetmore was born November 5, 1999, in Kalama, Washington, and taught himself piano at 11 after hearing Jerry Lee Lewis. He went on to play football at Montana Technological University, studying business and IT, until a freshman-year practice injury broke his leg in three places.
He has said he'd asked for direction the night before the injury, and took it as a sign to leave football behind. His mother suggested he pick up piano and guitar again as therapy, and he wrote his first song shortly after. He moved to Nashville in 2020.
From promo singles to a debut No. 1
After a run of independent singles, Wetmore signed to Back Blocks Music in 2023 and added a deal with UMG Nashville the following year. "Wine into Whiskey" (2024) gave him his first Hot 100 entry, and "Wind Up Missin' You" became his first country radio No. 1, now 2x Platinum.
His debut album "What Not To" (2025) went Gold and sold out his first headlining tour. In 2026 he won the ACM Award for New Male Artist of the Year and released the EP "Sunburn Mixtape."
